The design
Stepped outdoor stairs rise to raised terraces, between light gray cladding and glass-railed balconies.
Elise is a family house of long, low lines. Two volumes sit side by side, each shifted just enough to make corners for terraces, balconies and a sheltered entrance. Low hipped roofs in gray metal cover both, and deep, flat soffits run beneath the eaves in one continuous horizontal line.
The palette is restrained: light gray large-format cladding set out in a fine grid, dark gray stone-effect panels, dark window frames and glass balustrades on slim steel posts. Stepped outdoor stairs rise to raised terraces, so arriving home, or stepping out with a morning coffee, starts a few steps above the garden.
On the ground floor, the living spaces open to a covered terrace and the garden. On the upper level, glass-railed balconies carry the rooms outdoors, and large glazed openings bring in daylight from more than one side. A parking space sits in front of the house.
